Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum
- This iconic landmark, which sits on the Hudson River in New York, attracts almost 1 million visitors each year
- The Intrepid launched a "New Era" as a symbol of heroism, strength, leadership and endurance in November, 2008, after a $120 million pier and ship renovation
- In addition to an amazing array of aircraft and exhibits, the Intrepid hosts many inspirational, educational, and fun events, including:
- Kids Week – a week of hands-on activities and star-studded performances when New York City Public Schools are on Winter Break (February)
- Fleet Week – the annual salute to our troops that attracts over 200,000 people to Pier 86 and features military demonstrations, athletic competitions, performances, and a Memorial Day Commemoration.
- Salute to Freedom Gala – A formal dinner and presentation of the Salute to Freedom Award. Past winners have included
- Summer Salute to Heroes – A summer-long celebration of heroes in our community. Weekend events include a Salute to Firefighters, Policemen, Coast Guard, and a "Hometown Heroes" weekend celebrating achievements of everyday heroes
